On 3 September 2026, a new film written and directed by Paul Greengrass, best known for his Jason Bourne films and Captain Phillips, and starring Andrew Garfield, received its Los Angeles premiere. The film is inspired by the story of the Peasants' Revolt. In the United States, the film was also briefly marketed as The Uprising: the Rise of Robin Hood, apparently because of the passing reference to rhymes of Robin Hood in William Langland's Piers Plowman.

The Uprising will be released in cinemas in the US on 10 September and in the UK on 9 October. A trailer for the film can be found here. Garfield has already been criticised in the US for his remark that 'I hope that if any billionaires watch it, they are scared shitless'.

BBC Who Do You Think You Are magazine interviewed Helen Killick, a member of the People of 1381 team, about the film. Helen said she was not too concerned about the film being strictly accurate, accepting that the film is a drama inspired by history. However, Helen was concerned that nuance might be sacrificed in favur of dramatic effect, commenting that 'I worry if nuance isn't present and it becomes too binary between the peasants and the authorities, and those who are out to suppress the revolt, or the people who are part of the systems against which they were rebelling.
